TIMBER TECH INFO

We're working on this page now. It will  include photos and information on mounting your bell. In the meantime, there are a couple of points we want to make you aware of regarding mounting  the new Bolt-On Model.

The most important thing to say is that there is no need to remove the grips, brakes, or shifters when mounting.

Lot's of people worry that they will break the band when they expand it over their bars.  Please don't worry. If you follow the guidelines below you should be just fine.

How to mount:

  • If you want to mount the bell near the stem, first mount it onto the narrower 22.2mm section of the bars, then slide it over to the wider part near the stem. Then bolt it in place.
  • If you want to mount the bell near the grips using the shim, you should first mount it on a 22.2mm section of the bars without the shim. Then install the shim next to bell, and slide the bell over the shim. Then bolt it in place.
  • For DH handlebars, we recommend you use the 22.mm shim.

Cautions:

  • Be sure that the bottom of the bell faces slightly forward (and away from your knees), in order to avoid possible injury in a crash.
  • Make sure the temperature is not too cold when you mount your bell. The only time we've heard of a  band breaking was from a guy who lives at high elevation in Colorado, and tried to mount it when the temperature was below zero. We recommend at least 40 degrees.
  •  We recommend a low-torque wrench when tightening the hex bolt. If you don't have a low-torque wrench, please only tighten as far as necessary to prevent the unit from moving on the bar. Over tightening can damage the threads.

If you have any questions, please shoot us an email.

Thanks!
